Jan 20, 2022Ashley Hall is an independent private school for girls enrolling students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades with an Upper School boarding program for students in seventh through twelfth grades. Founded in 1909 and set against the beautiful backdrop of historic Charleston, South Carolina, Ashley Hall welcomes young women from around the world to experience an educational program dedicated to shaping the next generation of female leaders. Ashley Hall’s downtown Charleston location is close to cultural and historical sites, shopping, and restaurants that provide a variety of weekend activities.
The school offers boarding programs for international students. Ashley Hall’s intimate boarding program welcomes girls from around the nation and world to experience one of the most prestigious all-girls’ schools in the South. The campus is located in the historic Charleston, South Carolina, one of the most friendly and safest cities in the U.S.
The Boarding Program combines the comfort of living in a home environment with the added dimension of intercultural interactions and dialogues with fellow students. Extra-curricular activities, including athletics and arts opportunities, build a well-rounded girl who values her strengths and confidently accepts challenges. Ashley Hall is committed to individualized attention toward and integration of its boarding students with the wider school body. A limited number of Boarding Program students are accepted to the school each year.
Each year the school offers various scholarship programs to its international students. Members of the Class of 2020 were accepted by 83 of the country’s most prestigious colleges and universities, garnering $2 million in merit scholarships. Currently, for 2021-22 academic year Ashley Hall is pleased to offer the Barbara Pierce Bush ’43 Scholarship for International Boarding Program students. Students who are accepted into Ashley Hall’s International Boarding Program are automatically considered for the award; there is no separate application process beyond the general application requirements for admission into the School and the International Boarding Program.
The Barbara Pierce Bush ’43 Scholarship for International Boarding Program students is awarded based on a student’s record of academic excellence and commitment to extracurricular endeavors as demonstrated in the student’s application information, test scores, transcripts, teacher recommendations, and interviews. The maximum award per year is $7,500, and the total maximum cumulative award per student is $30,000.
